What Makes A Research Database Valuable? Easy Access! |
||||
| (Topeka, KS) Looking for a diagnostic guide for your 1994 Honda Accord? Seeking new authors and books to explore that are similar to James Patterson? Hooked on genealogy and searching for more information on your family’s history? The State Library of Kansas has just the database for your unique research requirements. “Beginning August 1, Kansans will have expanded opportunities to utilize library databases that open a global world of information,” explained State Librarian Christie Brandau. “Through a cooperative consortium between the State Library, Kan-ed and the Regents Library Database Consortium (RLDC), hundreds of schools, libraries and hospitals have immediate access to some of the most popular academic, reference and research databases in the world.” The databases are a treasure-chest of useful, interesting and entertaining information--choose Chilton’s Auto Repair online to find that diagnostic guide for your Honda; search NoveList to learn about authors who write thrillers similar to James Patterson’s popular series; and investigate HeritageQuest for help with your family genealogy search! Access to the databases is free of charge to anyone in Kansas by going to the State Library of Kansas website, www.kslib.info. Using the yellow-search box, enter the topic to be searched; or select Explore our Resources and review the entire listing of databases. Here’s just a sample of the databases available:
The State Library of Kansas is located in the State Capitol building in Topeka. Although the library’s services have changed and adapted over the years, it is the library’s mission to serve the residents of Kansas. In early statehood years, the library offered traveling library materials to reach rural Kansans. Later, as a ready resource to the executive and legislative branches of state government, the State Library has served as depository of legal and historical documents. Today, with new technology and access to expansive databases, the State Library of Kansas offers more services and information than ever to the residents of Kansas. Visit our website, www.kslib.info.
