Our Mission
The State Library of Kansas provides information services for state and local governments, for local libraries and their users, and for people who communicate with the library in the Capitol Building or at its other service locations.

SLK Board
Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed 11 to the State Library of Kansas Board, which was created with SB 67 and signed by the Governor during the 2007 Legislative Session. Learn more
History
The State Library was founded on the basis of the Kansas Territorial Library first funded in 1855. In 1863 the Kansas Legislature made the first appropriations of two thousand dollars to form the Kansas State Library.
