State Library of Kansas Board

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has appointed 11 to the State Library of
Kansas Board, which was created with SB 67 and signed by the governor
during the 2007 Legislative Session.

“Ensuring that our public schools and Regents institutions have
access to the library network expands the opportunities Kansans have to
read, learn and explore,” Sebelius said.

2008 Meeting Dates: March 7, June 20, Sept. 19, November 14. Meetings are held at Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, Topeka; 9:30am.

State Library of Kansas Board

Micaela Ayers, El Dorado, is the library director at Butler County Community College.

John Flower, Bonner Springs, has more than 15 years experience in strategic planning with SBC/AT&T.

Lori Goetsch, Manhattan, is the dean of libraries at Kansas State University

Martha House, Council Grove, is a librarian at Council Grove High School.

Nancy Keith, Effingham, is an elementary school principal in Atchison County.

Donna Lauffer, Overland Park, is the CEO of the Johnson County library system.

Marisa Lewis, Wichita, is an engineering librarian for the Hawker Beechcraft Corporation.

James Minges, Roeland Park, is the director of the Northeast Kansas Library System.

Marion Renner, Haysville, is a retired teacher with fifty years of classroom experience.

Gail Stucky, Moundridge, is co-director of libraries at Bethel College in Newton.

A representative from the Federated Women's Club (to be named)

 


 

This board promotes cooperation with the Kansas Board of Regents to ensure the inclusion of libraries on the KAN-ED network and continues the availability of statewide library reference resources.

Membership consists of seven professional librarians, a trustee of a public library, two representatives of the general public and one qualified member of the Kansas Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Additionally, the board includes the Executive Officer of the Board of Regents, the Commissioner of Education, and the State Librarian as ex officio members.

Members will serve four-year terms.
