Kansas Legislators Past & Present
Through the years staff of the State Library's Legislative Reference Division have kept a card file of senators and representatives elected or appointed to the State Legislature. Information was also kept on those who were elected or appointed but did not serve due to health problems, death, redistricting, legal actions, etc. Some of the information has been provided through the courtesy of the Kansas State Historical Society.
Putting this listing online is done as an aid to researchers seeking basic information on former and present day Kansas legislators.

Just for fun we have begun a trivia page on Kansas legislators. It lists interesting facts on individual legislators with source material when known.
If you have more information on any of the senators or representatives here please email us at ksdocs@kslib.info or send a letter to:

Topeka, KS 66612
We can't put up complete biographies but would like to add basic information and source material available on individuals. This would include online information as well as paper (e.g. obituaries, books, articles, family histories, etc.) Just give us a full citation of the piece you know of containing information on any of these Kansas lawmakers and send it to us. The State Library of Kansas also has a vertical file collection on past legislators and would appreciate any donations to this collection as well.
Other Legislative/Political Sites:
KU's Policy Research and Institute has current Kansas Legislature directory information as well.
The Political Graveyard -- A database listing death information and burial places of deceased politicians from Kansas and other states.
Biographical Directory Of The United States Congress --A database where you can search for biographies of all U.S. congressional representatives since the first Continental Congress.
Cyndi's List (Kansas Page) -- Biographical and genealogical resources for Kansas family history researchers.
