Kansas Governors' Messages
From its stormy beginnings as a state on the eve of the Civil War to the present, Kansas has been an involved participant in the many issues played out in American history.
Reading the messages of our governors is a way of getting a first hand look at these issues and how Kansans worked through them.
The Kansas State Library makes available here the texts of Governors' messages, primarily the messages given to the Legislature at the opening of session (often referred to as the State of the State message), as a means of making Kansas' rich political history more available to the public.
The number of messages available online now is small but will increase slowly. They may be accessed by the governor's name and dates of service, listed below. We also include a link to the current speeches of Governor Kathleen Sebelius for your convenience.
