BENNETT EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 75-7 DESIGNATION OF AGENCY TO WHICH THE STATE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY OFFICE IS ASSIGNED |

WHEREAS, 1975 Senate Bill No. 63 creating and establishing the state economic opportunity office has become law, which office is a continuation of the Kansas office of coordinator for the state technical assistance program created by gubernatorial executive order dated May 14, 1965;
WHEREAS, 1975 Senate Bill No. 63 establishes the state economic opportunity office in the office of the Governor or in such other agency in the executive branch of state government as the Governor shall direct by executive order; and
WHEREAS, the powers and duties of the office of economic opportunity, and its director, include initiation of incentive programs to provide for nutritional programs for the poor; providing the Governor with information and advice on policies and programs of the federal office of economic opportunity, and information on causes and conditions of poverty in the state; and receiving and administering all federal assistance available to such office, and such duties and responsibilities

should properly be assigned to an agency that administers broad services to the people of the State of Kansas with the ability to gather information and effectively coordinate state-wide programs relating to economic opportunity. NOW, THEREFORE, effective and beginning on July 18, 1975, the executive agency of social rehabilitation services is hereby designated as the agency in which the state economic opportunity office is established, and to which the director of economic opportunity, appointed by the Governor, shall be responsible for all purposes except for reports made directly to the Governor at the Governor's request.
This document shall be filed with the Secretary of State as Executive Order No. 75-7.
