As a coordinating agency of the Kansas State Data Center, IPSR receives or accesses Census publications, CD- and DVD-ROMs, and other electronic data files for Kansas and neighboring states. IPSR has a web application that allows users to create custom tables, graphs, and maps from the Kansas Data Archive, a repository of state-, county-, and city-level demographic and socio-economic data for Kansas. The IPSR web site also features an application that allows users to create Census 2000 profiles for a user-defined area. IPSR publishes county-level data profiles for all Kansas counties in addition to the Kansas Statistical Abstract, all of which are freely-available from the web site. IPSR staff are able to field general Census and other state data questions, create custom data extracts, and assist users in data visualization, including GIS. Some services may require a fee. For more information, please contact Xan Wedel at ipsr@ku.edu or (785) 864-3701.
Kansas Population Center
Kansas State University
The Kansas Population Center is the main population-related research facility at Kansas State University. Building on the cross-disciplinary and flexible nature of social demography, the KPC connects the campus community working on population studies to national and international research centers and academic communities. It is a depository for socio-demographic data on Kansas and the United States through its role in the U.S. Census Bureau's State Data Center Program. The Kansas Population Center is located within the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work. The main research areas of the KPC are migration, urbanization, immigration and rural population change. We are also involved in a number of projects related to natural resource use from a demographic perspective, including the impact of biofuel production on rural sustainability. The KPC also supports a research network on population trends in Eastern Europe.
Affiliate Agencies
