ILDP Resource Libraries

Each year, a portion of the total Interlibrary Loan Development Program appropriation is awarded to ILDP resource libraries.  The State Library awards ILDP competitive grants for a portion of the remaining funds.  For a listing of recent ILDP competitive grants, see ILDP competitive grant awards.

For fiscal year 2008, the Legislature budgeted a total of $624,670 for the Interlibrary Loan Development Program.  Resource libraries received $516,824 of this amount.

ILDP resource libraries agree to use their grants to purchase materials to meet the needs and requests of their local users.  These materials are then available to be circulated throughout Kansas, helping libraries respond more effectively to ILL requests, and strengthening our state’s resource sharing network.

Where are the ILDP resource libraries located?

These libraries have been designated as ILDP resource libraries: Dorothy Bramlage Public Library (Junction City), Coffeyville Public Library, Dodge City Public Library, Emporia Public Library, Finney County Public Library, Great Bend Public Library, Hays Public Library, Hutchinson Public Library, Johnson County Library, Kansas City (KS) Public Library, Lawrence Public Library, Leavenworth Public Library, Liberal Memorial Library, Manhattan Public Library, Newton Public Library, Northwest Kansas Library System (Norton), Olathe Public Library, Pittsburg Public Library, Pottawatomie-Wabaunsee Regional Library (St. Marys), Salina Public Library, Southeast Kansas Library System (Iola), Topeka Public Library, and the Wichita Public Library.

Other Information

Previously, resource libraries were required to collect in specific subject or format areas.  Beginning with fiscal year 2009, that requirement has been removed to allow resource libraries to focus on purchasing the most requested materials, regardless of subject area or format.

Before requesting any item on ILL, libraries should consult the Kansas Library Catalog to identify owning libraries.  Whenever possible, borrow from the smallest library that has the item you’re looking for.  If using the AGent system, please check that your lender list is current.
