About Us

The mission of the Kansas Talking Books Library Service is to provide
personalized support and materials in a specialized format to ensure that all
may read.


The Library will provide prompt, accurate, personalized support and access
to books and magazines in Braille and audio formats, along with the required
playback equipment to any Kansas resident unable to use
standard print due to a visual or other physical impairment. The service,
coordinated through the State Library of Kansas and the Library of Congress,
National Library Service, will provide for home delivery of qualifying library
resources without cost to patrons. The library will maintain the following:

  • a well-rounded leisure-reading collection
  • adaptive bibliographic access to the collection
  • timely registration and individualized service
  • helpful response to requests for information
  • timely and accurate circulation of books and playback equipment
